WHAT WE DO AND HOW WE DO IT

Canvas printing is becoming more popular everyday and the choice for Giclée type of
printing.  With this being said, over the years we have developed an added technique
by embellishing with "gels" on the printed canvas.  This process may also be called "in
pesto".  Some artists like to apply this textured gel coating to either canvas or paper
prints to add dimensional quality or define brush strokes.
Not all photos or art lend
itself to this type of process.

With all this being said, if it does not conform to some type of industry standard the
whole process will not stand up to Giclée archival art work printing.

A standard
for our printing process has been achieved and tested for the type of media
we use, inks that we print with and coating we use.  The "
Wilhelm Imaging Research",
have tested all of the elements that we use and are certified by Epson.

                                      HOW IT WORKS

  • The process starts with a bright white photo grade water proof stretchable
canvas.  Now that was a mouth full.  This type of canvas has a layer or coating for
    archival purpose.

  • Next is the type of Ink used by the printer.  We only use UltraChrome inks by
Epson.  After the printing process we let it dry for 24 hours before proceeding.

  • Now comes the coating.  Eco Print Shield is the only coating that has been
approved by the Wilhelm Institute.  This is a highly UV and water proof protector
that is applied by roller.  We normally put two coats on and then let that dry for 24
hours.  This process is also done for normal paper prints as well.

  • Now the fun starts.  A medium embellishing gels is now applied with a wide artist
brush.  Normally this has two coats.

  • A much heavier gel is used next to go over only the highlight area's or some area
on the print that you would want to highlight.  Normally this is only a single coat.

  • And finally one last coat of Eco Print Shield.

  • And "bam" your done.

Now you know why we are not a 24 hour printer.  Quality Matters, Choose Wisely.
